Irish Festival launches Burnage Oasis Bar

Attymass man Lawrence Hennigan has organised a free family orientated Irish Festival to officially launch the UK’s first Oasis themed Music Bar. He is hoping to take a liitle bit of the Ballina Festival and bring it to his bar for the day. The bar is part of the newly refurbished community pub ‘The Farmers Arms’, 254 Burnage Lane in Burnage village, South Manchester.

The special event will take place on Sunday 5 July with the doors opening at 2pm and will mark the official opening of the bar. The award winning Joe Casserley and ‘Full Irish Radio show’ will be broadcasting their popular Irish show live from the venue on 96.9fm. Entertainment includes a display by Manchester’s Irish Vintage Tractor association who will be display one of their prized possessions outside the venue. Traditional Irish music will be provided by ‘Shake the Barley’, ‘The Scally Brothers’ and a host of special guests. The Keegan Kennedy School of Irish dancing will be providing Irish dancing displays. Entertainment will be going on inside and outside the venue in the Sun Patio, so make sure you bring your shades and sun cream if it’s hot.

Lawrence Hennigan the owner of the venue said “We love the Ballina Salmon Festival and never miss going to it every year. We hope to recreate a liitle bit of that on the day, even the tractor's from Mayo!. It should be a great family occasion and everyone will be given a warm Irish welcome whatever their background or culture. You will not have to be Irish to join in the fun, it looks set to be a lovely way to start the summer festivities.”

The oasis Music lounge is the UK’s first dedicated music lounge to the world famous South Manchester group. Highlights of the bar’s collection of memorabilia includes a platinum disc from the ‘Definitely Maybe’ album, the original demo tape from the group, music instruments, lyrics and an exhibition of photographs by Rock photographer Karen McBride. Many of the items on display have been donated by members of the community. The bar since it first opened in time for the bands homecoming gigs in Heaton Park, has been attracting visitors from all over the world including visitors from Scotland, Jersey and Hong Kong.
