It is with great sadness that the Irish Festival Committee heard about the recent sad death of one of the founder members of our committee, Councillor Bill Risby.

He was a wise and calming influence, never afraid to stand up for what he believed in, we will miss him terribly.

Bill Risby worked long and hard for Manchester’s Irish Community over many decades.

On behalf of the community, his friends on the Festival Committee wish to offer deepest condolences to his wife Marie and Family, his colleagues on the City Council and all who miss him.

The funeral arrangements was held at 11:15am on Thursday 5th March 2009 at St. Dunstan's RC Church, 391 Moston Lane
